The offseason is tough on any waterfowl hunter. If you’re like me, you’re probably bored and counting down the days till the opener. Sure, there is a lot of work to do in order to get ready for the upcoming season (planting, maintenance, trail upkeep, blind maintenance, etc.), but I crave waterfowl hunting and furthermore waterfowl content. The best way for me to get through the offseason is to focus on how to get better or how I can improve. Also, sometimes I just want to look at awesome photos and videos of ducks and Canada’s. Social media can be a truly negative outlet, but It can also be an invaluable tool if you know where to look. I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite Instagram and Youtube accounts below. For the most part, I don’t know anyone I’ve listed personally and I haven’t ever spoken to most of them. If you go and view these accounts, try and take as much as you can from what they do and how they do it. Lastly, don’t be afraid to reach out to these guys. In my experience, they are more than willing to help out and answer any questions you might have. What’s the worst that can happen, they leave you on “read”?

1.) Daybreak Outdoors (Youtube):

These guys have built quite the business and channel. The videos are professional, but not over produced. More importantly, its not just kill shot after kill shot. They break down the hunts and why they’re doing what they’re doing. They also have some awesome offseason content showing how they plant, brush, and maintain there properties.

2.) The Grind Waterfowl TV (Youtube):

Bill Willroth, the host of the Grind Waterfowl TV might just be living every die hard waterfowl hunters dream. He travels around the country hunting with different outfitters throughout the US. I really find his show to be authentic. He showcases great hunts as well as some not so great hunts. He also does a great job of talking to the guides he hunts with about why they’re hunting the way they are depending on the state they’re in.

3.) Cory Loeffler (Instagram):

Cory’s instagram page is authentic as it gets. If you aren’t familiar with Cory, he runs DRC Call company. This is probably a bit biased, because most of the team here uses DRC goose calls, but Cory’s page is a can’t miss. He shows tons of waterfowl content from hunts to calling to promoting his own calls. He’s a great example of when to pause a video. When he’s blowing a call, pause the video, then try to mimic the vocalizations he’s making.

4.) Caleb Marmolejo (Instagram):

I firmly believe Caleb is the best story teller in the outdoor creative space. Caleb doesn’t just specifically focus on waterfowl, but a lot of his page has waterfowl hunting content. Caleb does a great job through his work of giving hunters a reminder that hunting is not just about the kill no matter what species your chasing. Caleb does a great job of telling stories around a hunt of community, the pursuit, differences in that said pursuit, faith, and the passion each of his subjects displays around there pursuit.

5.) Ryan Poloway (Instagram):

Ryan has some of the best waterfowl content on Instagram. I was actually referred to his work by Derek Testerman, Maverick Outfitters’ photographer and videographer. Ryan’s photos tell a story by themselves. He also has some really unique reels to watch as well. Give him a follow and sit back and enjoy the content!
